Thanks for the forum, Joat and Cass. I promise you that you will regret it.

In the spirit of George Carlin's immortal "Football vs. Baseball" routine, I'd like to begin this thread with the age old question: "Why do so many baseball teams have such weenie names?"

What name strikes fear into the hearts of adversaries more, a pair of colored colored or a song bird? Seriously, you've got Tigers and Devil Rays and Pirates and Braves, and then you've got (gasp!) the Brewers!!!, the Royals, Angels, and (fainting) the Expos!!!!
I'm shaking baby...shaking.

Um..."colored SOCKS"
This is starting out well, isn't it?

No riots yet, and they are almost through the line up. Chicken wings are smelling good.

I once worked for a guy who was a huge Cubs fan. One day I came to work with a T-shirt that had a Cardinial on it and said,
"I am for the St.Louis Cardnials.......And anyone who plays the Cubs"
It was just a joke since I`m not a big baseball fan, but he told me to take it off, and I was so stubborn that I refused, so I went home for the day.
It was still funny. Still is.

How come the Red Sox bat boy looks about 35 years old?

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 7:47:26 PM

I kinda hope the Sox win. It`s the Underdog thing.
Maybe Polly Purebred can give `em a boost of good luck.

The Curse of the Bambeaner and all that don`t cha know.

Mmmm...
Cards found the Fenway corner.
I suspect somebody in the Bush administration.

Wha? GMC runs a commercial in Spanish w/o subtitles? Gee, isn't that what the "s channel" is for?

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 8:22:31 PM

Looks like you and I are the only ones in the entire United States who`re wathching it at home.

Posted by: joatmoaf at Oct 23, 2004 8:23:06 PM

OUCH!!!

Posted by: joatmoaf at Oct 23, 2004 8:25:13 PM

I don't have a life. What's your excuse?
Great catch.
Oops! Three run homer.
Heh.

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 8:29:50 PM

Too many things to do, too little time to do it in.
Bad start for the Sox.

Posted by: joatmoaf at Oct 23, 2004 8:31:41 PM

4 n 0 in the first. Sox could do better.

Posted by: joatmoaf at Oct 23, 2004 8:33:55 PM

Ortiz is a cannon with a bat.

Posted by: joatmoaf at Oct 23, 2004 8:35:41 PM

It's early.

The Reds lost the first game of the '75 World Series 6-0 to the Red Sox, and came back to win it all.

Ortiz is pretty awesome, by the way.

Nice bunt. The Card's ability to paly small ball scares the helk out of me.

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 8:40:03 PM

Ortiz' ability to play long ball scares everyone.

Stop with the mock humility, spd.
You're happy as whatever, right now.

Posted by: Don Brouhaha at Oct 23, 2004 8:41:16 PM

God, I love to watch good catchers work.
Great play by Mirabelli.

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 8:42:39 PM

Alright,it's safe.
Nobody is reading this thread anymore, so we can now talk safely about what really drives us: fabric. I like chintz and floral patterns. How about you?

Denim

The smell of tight new leather on a sweaty fat chick.

Good start spd.

Posted by: Pile On® at Oct 23, 2004 9:01:19 PM

I figured it would take a 2nd or 3rd look at a knuckleballer for the redbirds to get going.

Posted by: Pile On® at Oct 23, 2004 9:02:40 PM

Sweaty fat chicks?
Uh...thanks for the vision, P.O.

So far, score doesn't tell the game. Cards look dangerous as hell. Good baseball.

Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 23, 2004 9:03:19 PM

Oops! That was a crusher by Walker.
It's gonna be one of "those."
