» Hump Day from 2004 Boobie-Thon
We're officially half-way into this year's Boobie-Thon now with just five more days to go. (Everything wraps up at 11:59 p.m. EDT this coming Sunday, October 10th.) And right now we're only $1137.15 away from reaching last year's total! That's... [Read More]

Cass -
I hope and pray that everyone touched by this survives and has all the support and encouragement they can ever handle.
I also hope and pray that organizations like Planned Parenthood have an epiphany and start admitting exactly what they are up to...
Notice that I didn't say they should go away (although I wish they would) but that they would stop teaching young women how to lie to themselves and families, etc.
Everyone reading this certainly knows that "Planned Parenthood" is more accurately a government-funded abortion service. They kill babies who would easily find loving homes where able-bodied, working, responsible people woudl raise them to be valuable members of our society (think Beethovan).
(I could be wrong on this but dont' think so...)
The former head of the Susan Koegman Foundation has resigned due to the Foundations determined financial support of Planned Parenthood.
This connection is probably harmless, except fot the link between abortion and breast cancer.
Again, I offer my support and prayers to those who have ever had ot deal with any of these issues. We are all just human and some of us have made mistakes, I just hope we have learned from them.

Planned Parenthood does a lot of good as well as harm. I don't agree with their stand on abortion (or abstinence for that matter), but I also see the need for making birth control available to young women if they are determined to have sex.
It's better to prevent babies from being conceived in the first place than to kill them, and to the extent that we can make that happen, I'm all for it. I just wish they'd get on board with trying to convince more young women that they don't have to jump in bed with the first young man who crooks his little finger at them.

I'm very thankful for Planned Parenthood. It has saved by career more than once. I agree, though, that PP should encourage more women to say no to sex, as defined in my deposition, and instead say yes to other acceptable alternatives, at least for the men. I also believe that they should encourage women to dry clean their clothes immediately after soiling.
I know a certain former intern that would be a great spokesperson on both subjects.

Cass, is that you with the Kerry Edwards sign? Nice way of trying to throw us off the trail, but you should know we are too clever for that.
And what is the deal, the women on the main page are supposed to be covered or have some attire on and then there is the picture of the one dude standing there holding his package.
I did not need to see that.
Posted by: Pile On® at Oct 1, 2004 12:09:41 PM
Pile, I knew you'd find me out. That wasn't very subtle of me, was it? :)
And no, that's not me... she's far too fair-skinned.
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 12:13:55 PM
And there needs to be something there for the ladies to look at Pile. Don't be stingy.
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 12:14:54 PM
Well you can call me stingy if you want but I probably just called attention to something that the chicks will all go over and see who might not have thinking there is nothing there for them to see.
And its breast cancer right? Not package cancer.
Posted by: Pile On® at Oct 1, 2004 12:25:18 PM
It says right on the main page that guys and girls can contribute. So where's your picture, Mr. On?
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 12:27:48 PM
Well I could send a picture but using images of me causes some messy legal complications due to prior contractual obligations. I can try but it probably won't happen.

'Package Cancer' is an unmentioned subject and one, that unfortunately needs to be outed. However, I don't need to see Naked Yoga or Full Monties to *ahem* support the research for the cause and cure.
One of the soldier's in dh's platoon had it and he lost one, but it nearly claimed his life as it had mestastasized to a lung, but nothing vital. It was caught in the nick of time. The kid was only 23 and he had one child. He had a whole lotta livin left to do, and I am glad that he was able to get the treatment in a timely manner.

Exactly. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure I need to view the goods either Cricket, but whatever it takes :)
It's all in a good cause. And frankly, this drive caused me to do a self-exam, something I have not done in quite some time, and schedule a long-overdue doctor's exam. So it has already done something good.

Good cause, but the link reminded me of an SNL skit : Hands Holding Boobs Magazine.
And which one was Michael Moore?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.... baha... you just lost me completely... :)
which one was Michael Moore?

Go on over folks and check it out.

I could have sworn that one of those cleavage shots had a Palme d'Or in the background..
Posted by: bahabuddha™ at Oct 1, 2004 3:30:10 PM
Better? Sorry, but I'm a little sensitive to people's feelings.
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 3:30:11 PM
I'm not sure I need to make this point, but just in case I do (because I know there are some newcomers):
That isn't an easy thing to do: putting your picture up on the web for everyone to see. People do it for all sorts of reasons that may not be apparent to you. And some of these ladies have had surgery, even, or are battling cancer now, or know someone who is (that's why they are doing it).
So let's try to keep in mind that, while I'm sure this is enjoyable and all, your amusement/approval really wasn't the primary purpose here.
So as Momma once said, if you can't say something nice, please don't say anything at all :)
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 3:35:10 PM
Well, that hasn't happenned to me in quite a while. And for the record how do you know that I didn't already submit a pic........
Posted by: Pile On® at Oct 1, 2004 3:36:55 PM
Because I know you.
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 3:40:30 PM
Maybe I should clarify my remark - I did not and do not intend to mock any of the pics. My comment was intended solely as a cheap shot at Michael Moore and his expansive bosom(s?).
Posted by: bahabuddha™ at Oct 1, 2004 3:58:49 PM
Boys, I'm not mad at anyone - just trying to head off any unfortunate remarks. The editing sequence may have made it appear that I was targeting baha, but that wasn't the case.
Everything's copacetic, I'm happy.
Posted by: Cassandra at Oct 1, 2004 4:05:46 PM
Cass - Ok, but after reading my own comments, I didn't like the way they sounded (this happens frequently).

I agree about looking or not looking. My weaving teacher in Kentucky is a breast cancer survivor. She showed me her scar and her prosthesis (which she keeps to whack people into line, I kid you not) and all I could think of was her positive mental attitude about this thing in her body that she wasn't going to let win.
She told me too, that having an appropriate sense of humor helped her through the worst of it...to keep things in balance.
Maybe some day I will tell you all the puns and double entendres we came up with when she went to the breast cancer survivor meetings.
She really thought some of them were absolutely wimpy. Well, I am not so sure that I could have gone through a mastectomy or a double radical mastectomy and come out smiling. Some of the ladies' husbands thought of them as sexless because of the surgery and avoided them. That would be difficult to get through.
On the otter heiny, Michael Moore's Triple Ds
would nauseate me.

Hey People! Ain't you got the price of a Starbucks Double Cocolatte Double Fudge Smackdown to bone up for these fine, exhibitionist ladies and their by-God righteous cause? Do I have to come out swinging?
Seriously, find ten bucks, somewhere, and put it in the kitty.
Don't disappoint me. If you do, then the terrorists will have won. And yes, John Kerry fans, you too can contribute to show that you Democrats hate breast cancer as much as Republicans. Considering everything else, it's the only win-win we've got.
Just do it people. It's the right thing.
Posted by: spd rdr at Oct 2, 2004 8:02:06 PM
The first 5 people who will put 10 bucks in as an honorarium in Dori's name and email me (and you have to follow the instructions and email them too so they can put at least your first name up and put the blog name, too so I know it's you) I'll match you buck for buck.
That's 100 more dollars for a good cause, and all it will cost any of you is $10 apiece. Please consider giving. You don't have to, but it would be awfully nice.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease???
