May I Have Your Attention Please?
Gentlemen:
Because I am not an unobservant Tech Wench, it hath come to mine attention that several amongst the male readership have expressed a more than passing interest in the Fair Sex. To be more specific, this interest oft takes the form of ... shall we say a fascination...nay, an obsession with... well, not to put too fine a point on it: boobs.
Being of a public-spirited nature, I feel it incumbent upon me to provide a socially-acceptable outlet for this sad affliction. And so when a nameless oinker of great stature called my attention to Michele's post on the Boobiethon '04 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, how could I resist?
This worthy cause is in its third year of fund raising. What's involved? This year, you can make honorary donations on behalf of bloggers Sandee or Dori, two lovely ladies who are battling breast cancer. A lot of very 'talented' ladies have donated anonymous photos of their lovely torsos, which you may view in exchange for your donations to benefit the search for a cure for breast cancer. The tax-deductible donations go directly to the Komen foundation. For once, something you undoubtedly like to do anyway is guilt-free and supports a worthy cause.
The drive runs October 1st through October 10th. Please get your photos or donations in early. Gentlemen, please support this cause, and be generous. After all, the ladies have. :©)

Have you heard of the pink and white M&Ms that are going on sale sometime soon? A friend told me that for every purchase, the SGK Foundation gets a donation.
I plan to stock up on M&Ms. They don't go bad in the refrigerator, or freezer. ;^)

No, I hadn't heard about that. I'll have to check it out - thanks for the tip :)

Cool! They match my Good & Plenty's!
Speaking of "good plenty" I think that the phrase perfectly describes Boobithon '04 (on so MANY levels). I'm sure that Cass can count on her pet oinkers to belly up to the trough!

I suppose I could force myself to make a sacrifice for a worthy cause... :)
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 4:41:22 PM
I hope so... I don't know whether any of you have checked out last year's pics, but I think they'd be well worth a donation. There may be lots of surprises up there... you never know.

Oh my. I will purchase the pink and white M&Ms.

Eating chocolate for such a good cause will surely be appreciate, Cricket :)

This foundation is the yardstick by which all charities should be judged.Class act top to bottom. October 9 my boys and I will be observing the 1st anniversary of my wife's loss of a 3 year battle with breast cancer. I regularly support the Komen BCF and encourage everyone to donate for a peek.

As someone who appreciates huge quantities of chocolate, I'll have to look for the pink and white M&Ms as well.
As someone who appreciates huge... tracks of land. Well, :©)
I lost an aunt to breast cancer 5 years ago. She had survived 2 previous bouts but the third one was too much for her body. She was such a strong woman through all of it. She wasn't going to let the cancer run her life.
Greg: I'm so sorry for your loss, I couldn't imagine the pain of losing my Little Girl. I'm sure I can speak for us all here at Jet Noise, We'll be praying for you.
Stress causes some people to break, others to break records.

My prayers for you Greg.
As for this cause -- well, I'm more of an *ss man, but I appreciate the upper curves as well. Let me run this one by my Sunday School class. I'm sure they'll know what to do.

Thamk upi sweetoe :)
This means the world to me!
Posted by: Sandee at Sep 28, 2004 5:56:59 PM
You know KJ, if you're afraid of your Sunday School class, you don't have to look if that's what's bothering you :). You can just donate money and leave it at that. You're not supporting anything except research for breast cancer.
To be honest, KJ can tell you he and I have tangled in the past on the subject of porn. So when I saw this, I approached it with a bit of trepidation. Sorry, but I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned - maybe more liberated in private than in public.
I have to say I saw nothing pornographic about this whatsoever. I thought for a long time before putting this up - I didn't do it lightly. I know I joke around a lot, but I had some reservations. But I decided it was a good cause and there was nothing wrong with it.
I'm saying this more for anyone else than for KJ, who is full of it :)
And Greg, I'm so sorry about your wife. My aunt survived breast cancer, but I remember how much the chemo took out of her. I hope any women reading this will check themselves. That's something I forget to do, and it's important. Perhaps you guys could volunteer to help out???
I was planning on making a big donation this year. But I will dig extra deep and double it. I have some savings put away - I will put the extra in there in her memory. God bless you.

Sandee:
Hang in there. My aunt finished chemo three years ago and she's still going strong. We'll pray for you.
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 6:19:19 PM
The worst thing about this disease is that everyone of us knows someone who has or is battling it. The best thing about knowing this fact is that your donations will truly help those you know, today and tomorrow.
Greg, with your permission, I will drop an extra envelope in the slot in honor of your wife's courage, and yours.

Cass: As for us guys helping out with the "checking", I can guarantee if my wife has a lump, I'll be the first to know. :©)
Posted by: Masked Menace at Sep 28, 2004 6:38:11 PM
Big up Cassandra massive!! h/t baha
I will get abreast of my finance situation and see if I can't help rack up the funds to save our national treasures.
Posted by: Pile On® at Sep 28, 2004 6:41:23 PM
Well, you know I was only half joking there guys.
The "standard activities" won't necessarily detect a small lump (which is when you want to catch them). And the best time to catch them is in the bath or shower, with some soap or shower gel (which can be fun for you).
You might consider having your wife teach you how to do an exam and checking her once a month. There are places where it's more likely she would get a lump, and things to look for. It could save her life.
Forgive the public service announcement, but this stuff is important :)

That last occurred to me because while, like Menace, the Unit has shown himself to be very enthusiastic in the nightly inspection process, I'm not sure he knows what he's looking for :)
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 6:45:59 PM
Big up Cassandra massive...
another phrase added to the Jet Noise lexicon...
Maybe without the Cassandra though...
Too funny baha.
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 6:47:39 PM
Oh, I am sure he knows what he is looking for.
Posted by: Pile On® at Sep 28, 2004 6:48:43 PM
Pile....
..................................
......................................
.........................................
OK I'm still laughing :)
What would I do without you guys?
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 7:04:06 PM
Correction:
I'm not sure he knows what he's supposed to be looking for.
Better?
Posted by: Cassandra at Sep 28, 2004 7:05:06 PM
Yeah, thats a bit more believable.
Posted by: Pile On® at Sep 28, 2004 7:08:15 PM
Well it's a bit frightening if he hasn't found it after 27 years Pile...
